چکیده
The present investigation was undertaken to study the prevalence of asymptomatic malaria in the tribal village Khobramendha of Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra state. Out of a total of 210 samples collected, nine tested positive (4.28%) for asymptomatic malaria. Six were positive for P. falciparum (66.6%) and three for P. vivax (33.3%). Not a single case of mixed infection was detected. The male/female ratio was 2/1 for both P. vivax and P. falciparum. The average age of the positive individual was found to be 24.8 years. As far as asymptomatic malaria cases of Khobramendh village is concerned, it is female biased upto the age of 60, but later on it is dominantly male biased (67%).

Molecular Evidence on Changing Pattern of Mixed Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax Infections during Year-Round Transmission of Malaria in Chahbahar, Iran
Mixed malaria infections, Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax, are suspected to occur at a greater frequency than is detected by conventional light microscopy. In order to determine the year round pattern of transmission and the frequency of mixed infections in malaria endemic area, we carried out a prospective comparison of diagnosis by conventional light microscopy and nested PCR in Chahbahar ...

Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax cause most of the malarial infections worldwide. Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium ovale, Plasmodium malariae, and Plasmodium knowlesi are susceptible to chloroquine. Chloroquine was the world's most widely used antim...
متن کاملBurden of asymptomatic malaria among a tribal population in a forested village of central India: a hidden challenge for malaria control in India
OBJECTIVE Chhattisgarh in India is a malaria-endemic state with seven southern districts that contributes approximately 50-60% of the reported malaria cases in the state every year. The problem is further complicated due to asymptomatic malaria cases which are largely responsible for persistent transmission. This study was undertaken in one of the forested villages of the Keshkal subdistrict in...
متن کاملClinical Pharmacology of the Antimalarial Artemisinin-Based Combination and other Artemisinins in Children
In 2010, there were estimated 219 million cases of malaria resulting in 666,000 deaths and two-thirds were children. Children are more vulnerable than adults to malaria parasites. In sub-Saharan African countries, maternal malaria is associated with up to 200,000 estimated infant deaths yearly. Malaria is caused by five Plasmodium parasites namely: Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasm...

INTRODUCTION Solomon Islands is intensifying national efforts to achieve malaria elimination. A long history of indoor spraying with residual insecticides, combined recently with distribution of long lasting insecticidal nets and artemether-lumefantrine therapy, has been implemented in Solomon Islands. The impact of these interventions on local endemicity of Plasmodium spp. is unknown. METHOD...
